David Porter (Of Counsel) David Porter's seventeen year career includes government service, non-profit association management, and for-profit pharmaceutical marketing. He is a strategic thinker with extensive experience in developing and maintaining relationships, targeted customer strategies, and consensus-building among and between non-profits and industry. David directed the American Medical Association's Specialty Society Relations, overseeing the AMA's interaction with 90 major medical specialty societies, and accelerating the AMA's integration of national specialty societies into their policy-making body. David also initiated a system of regular board-level interaction between the leaders of AMA and the major specialty societies. His political and government service includes positions in state and local political development, strategic fundraising, and a political appointment in the Bush-Quayle Administration. He was the youngest Senior Executive Service appointee at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), overseeing the policy vetting process in the Office of the Secretary. At Searle and subsequently Pharmacia, David directed the development of a short- and long-term alliance development strategic plan, capitalizing on his extensive knowledge of state and regional professional associations and voluntary health organizations. He has cultivated extensive contacts within organized medicine, and these relationships are invaluable resources for developing or refining interactions on current issues. David also continues his commitment to nonprofit organizations. As Vice President for Grants and Research for the Children's Brittle Bone Foundation, he oversees the processes of identifying, reviewing, selecting, and charting the progress of the CBBF's grantees. As Chair of the Chicago Arthritis Foundation's Advocacy Committee, he directs the chapter's advocacy efforts, seeking more state and federal funds to support the patient and professional education activities. David holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
